Welcome

Have you ever found yourself in a place that is new to you and yet instantly familiar and inviting? We are such a place. Come, walk with us for a while. There is room for everyone on this path.

We are CommUnity on the Hill, a Unity congregation. We are serious Truth students who follow the teachings of Jesus, the Christ. We reinforce each other in our quest to remember our oneness with God. We laugh, sing, and celebrate at our beautiful Sunday services, where all are welcome. Through prayer, meditation, forgiveness, and mindful, loving activities, we seek and affirm all that is Good and all that is True and, that we are all one.

Five Principles

Unity has no set creed or dogma that its members must follow. Unity encourages people to explore and apply Unity teachings based on their own spiritual understanding. This spiritual understanding is enhanced through reflective prayer and meditation.

The five basic ideas of the Unity belief system are:
1) God is all-good and is present everywhere.
2) The spirit of God lives within each person.
3) We create our life experiences through our thoughts.
4) There is power in affirmative prayer, which we believe increases our connection to God.
5) Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not enough. We must live them.

Theme for March 2016: Easter

The month of March continues our journey to our Easter Celebration on Sunday, March 27th! Please join us each week as Reverend Sandy teaches about Simply Sabbath (March 6), Putting Feet to Prayer (March 13), and Palm Sunday (March 20).
We look forward to seeing everyone as the spring unfolds.

From a scientific perspective, the heart is the organ that beats blood throughout our system, and nourishes and replenishes every part of our body. “Open heart” can refer to a surgical procedure the that repairs and mends the heart. Metaphysically, it can be interpreted as opening our entire being to Spirit, and all the manifestations of Spirit in our world. According to The Revealing Word, “It is the center from which the divine substance is poured forth. Everyone uses his heart center when he sends forth a loving thought.”

So, let’s Open our Hearts to our church home this month of February, and see if we can expand and deepen our individual and collective experience of an open heart.

Pat’s Book Corner

Each month, Pat Weeks provides a book review of her current read.

Rabbi Jesus

Rabbi Jesus

In anticipation of Easter, I am recommending this month a book by Bruce Chilton, a noted biblical scholar entitled, Rabbi Jesus, subtitled The Jewish Life and Teaching That Inspired Christianity. The author writes with vividness and readability that draws the reader into the world that Jesus occupied. He uses all sorts of sources: the Gospels of the New Testament, ancient Jewish literature, Aramaic oral traditions, the Torah and Talmud, archaeological discoveries, and texts from multiple scholars.
